coconut jack childrens books

Coconut Jack

A bouncy, rhyming tale for Egmont’s blue banana series.
This is the vine, knitted in twine, made by Jack’s grandma in double quick time, that swings from the tree (two metres tall), made out of cardboard and wood in the hall . . . that holds up the coconut Jack made.
Year One’s homework is to make something for the jungle display. That evening most of the class are cutting and gluing, painting and drawing. But Jack thinks it’s far more fun to play football. So he gets some modelling clay, rolls it into a ball and hey presto! It’s a coconut.
But Jack’s family don’t feel this is quite enough. So, Dad makes a tree and Grandma knits a vine, Mum makes a snake and little Fred donates a stuffed parrot. Soon it’s a glorious palm tree, worthy of a place among the jungle huts, anteaters, birds and giant millipedes the others have made. They take it to school, but oh no! The water pipes burst and flood the hall where the jungle display is. What will happen to everyone’s work?
Told in bouncy rhyming couplets, this witty story is perfect for developing readers.
Blue bananas are chapter books for children learning to read, suitable for NC Level 2 readers. They are carefully designed educational books for children, supporting their understanding of how to read and develop vocabulary. Blue bananas uses speech bubbles to aid understanding of dialogue and the text encourages children to explore the feelings of characters.

hooray for knickers

Hooray for Knickers

Illustrated by Deborah Allwright

This is a funny story about no one following the king’s instructions correctly. They can’t hear properly because either they are hiding in a cupboard or they’re too far away! But does anyone actually ask the bad tempered king to repeat his orders? No, of course not – so it’s hardly surprising that the story gets very silly indeed.

King Grouchy is desperate to impress Prince Jolly, so he invites him for a swim at the royal pool. But when the servants don’t quite hear the king’s orders, the preparations turn into a right royal MUDDLE of

Goats, boats, bears, pears, sparkly stickers and FRILLY KNICKERS!

Whatever will Prince Jolly think?

Something different

The second in the series of books about the Little Somethings, this is set around their important Stargazing Night on Nonty the 9th.
An unexpected – and very strange – visitor appears. Bob teaches the other Little Somethings a lesson in acceptance.
There’s a game for you to play at the back of the book.
